2nd May and a wonderful weekend behind me!! May day, or Labour day as it's also called, is usually celebrated here in Finland with parties, small or big, on the the 30th and then 1st May is a bank holiday(except this year when it landed on a Sunday...bugger) which we usually spend in parks with friends and/or family on picnics (even if it would be snowing). I packed my little lightning blue Micra and headed off to Vasa 500 km away, after a very very inefficient day, when someone somewhere in Sweden broke the server line to Finland and couldn't use the Internet at work...so instead of doing all the "haven't done these but have to do them soon" stuff, I got to clean my desk and put old folders in the archives...how exciting...but any who.. the drive up to Vasa went well and there I was greeted by beloved friends and their daughter who is the cutest!! We spent the weekend with going into town for coffee and some fleamarket-shopping and on Saturday evening the godparents of little S came over and we enjoyed GOOD food and drinks until early morning. On Sunday there was the May day market in town and defying the wind we decided to go there too to watch people, balloons and drool over the licorice and fudge that was on display :) All in all a GREAT, sunny weekend!!
